The GCS Board of Directors commissioned a campus Master Plan in 2013. The short term goals were to create a more pedestrian friendly campus, renovate the cafeteria and lay the groundwork for a two-phase capital campaign.
Phase I of the capital campaign is a 9,600 sq ft Middle School building. It will house four classrooms, an art room, science lab, media center and administration office space. The estimated building costs for the facility are $1,000,000. (Building for the Ages: Phase I)
At the beginning of October, 2016, a donor offered a $500,000 matching gift towards construction. He challenged us to raise the remaining commitments by Spring, 2017, so students could attend during the 2017-18 school year. We met our goal on 4-25-17! The ground breaking ceremony was at the beginning of May, 2017 and the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held March 23, 2018. Students in grades 6-8 started classes on Monday, March 26. We are so thankful to all who gave of their means, their time, and their talents to complete this almost $1.5 million project! Click here for the VDT article about the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
